Consumer Reports now has the top picks for 2021. Read their reviews to see which vehicles are most suitable for you. Even though new vehicles are more costly than $40,000 there are still many excellent options. Top ten lists are based on reliability data and crash tests as well as owner satisfaction. Consumer Reports ranked the Mazda CX-30 highest, with a starting price of just $22,000.

Toyota cars were fourth on the list for the Top Picks in 2021. Green Choice is the new designation given to vehicles that emit low carbon emissions. Consumer Reports examined 28 car brands and required two models from each brand to test their reliability. With a combined score 80, the top four brands were Porsche and Genesis. A car is more reliable than other vehicles among the top five brands.


Consumer Reports remains the number one pick for low-emission powertrains in the Toyota hybrid lineup. The magazine included Toyota's hybrid lineup in its Green Choice awards for a second consecutive year. Toyota has yet to produce a fully electric vehicle. The first one is expected to arrive later this year. The company is still working to develop the vehicle. Toyota is the leader in hybrid cars. Toyota has been the top car maker for the past six years, but it is still far from a fully electric car.

Models ranked lowest

As Mazda grows, Mazda's reliability suffers. While the G70 is reliable, the GV80 scored lower. This is largely due the problems with the infotainment and drive systems. Other brands, including Cadillac and Chrysler, have shown improvement over the year before. The RDX has shown improvement, however, it still continues to struggle with issues with its transmission. Nissan's reliability also declined from a highly-publicized ranking in 2011 down to its lowest-ever rating for 2014.
